Church Painting Project in Chicago’s near West Side

Situated on Chicago’s near West Side, Israel of God’s Church White Horse Army Parish, a converted Jewish synagogue, is a Baptist house of worship serving the local community through religious services, charities and senior housing. The church itself is comprised of a main sanctuary and upper balconies that the deacon of the church, Roy Ewing, was looking to have repainted, along with several other updates and repairs.

The main project took place during the winter of 2017-18. After preparing the included surfaces for painting, our painters applied Benjamin Moore’s Regal Select interior paint in a matte finish to the main sanctuary area, including the three story ceiling and upper balconies. The use of a matte finish complemented the existing lighting in the sanctuary area. We also refinished the wood window sills after repairing.

Our team faced two major complications during this job: First, the church required extensive plaster repair, which required expertise in plaster repair, as well as scaffolding to access high points in the sanctuary and in the stairwells. Secondly, operating at an active church also imposed scheduling complexities. Our painters ensured that they had completed significant portions for Sunday services, minimizing inconvenience to parishioners.

Decan Ewing highlighted the “professionalism, timeliness, good estimates, and thorough follow ups” when describing his satisfaction with CertaPro Painters of Aurora-Oswego’s work. He enjoyed working with Certapro Painters of Aurora so much that he has referred us to other churches he is associated with, and has additional projects to schedule.

The church poses many difficult to reach surfaces that required a professional crew to handle.
